DAVENPORT -- Cathy Wendland Wheeler, a resident of Davenport, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, following a sudden illness. She has been cremated. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, March 28, 2001, at the LeClaire Civic Center, LeClaire, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is in charge of arrangements. She was born Feb. 10, 1953, in Iowa City, the daughter of Elsie Crafton and Charles Maring. She was a graduate of Bettendorf High School and received her bachelor's degree in social work from Marycrest College in Davenport. Survivors include her daughters, Lana Wendland, Vienna, Va., and Cara Wendland and Leah Masterson, both of Davenport; her son, Johnny Masterson, Davenport; her life partner, Patti Wheeler, Davenport; her granddaughter, Dericka; her sisters, Julie Kiernan, Slidell, La., Bonnie Abbott, Omaha, Neb., and Darla Dandridge, Bettendorf; four nieces; six nephews; and eight grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
