William Ralph Abbott was born on April 20, 1926, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, the son of the late James Harrison and Rebecca Ellen Abbott. He is survived by two children, Barbara Proffitt of Aynor, South Carolina and William Michael Abbott and wife, Rita, of Annville , his twin brother, Clifford Ray Abbott and wife, Gladys, of Burnside, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn is passing. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his first wife, Florence "Betty" Evans Abbott, his second wife, Vela Abbott, and eight brothers and sisters, Elmer, Lucille, Earl, Letha, Loraine, Wilson, Vernon and Charles.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a truck driver and Teamster and a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.
William Ralph Abbott departed this life at the East Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Kentucky, on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, being 90 years, 6 months and 26 days of age.
Funeral services for William Ralph Abbott will be conducted at 12 Noon Saturday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily.
The family of William Ralph Abbott will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home after 10:00 AM Saturday until the funeral hour of 12 Noon.
Military honors will be conducted by DAV Chapter 158 Keavy.
