Ethel H "Red" Abbott; 88 of Effingham, formerly of Sullivan and Mattoon, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 1, 1984 at Saint Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at McMullin Funeral Home, Sullivan, with burial in Jonathan Creek Cemetery, near sullivan. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
Mr Abbott was born in Lebanon, MO, the son of James and Martha Abbott. He married Esther Clayton in 1916. She died in 1951.
He was a farm laborer.
Surviving are his sons, James H., Charles Edward and Cecil F., all of Mattoon, Oliver D. of Effingham, John F. of Salt Lake City, Utah; daugher, Mrs L.E. Roark of Mattoon; 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, and his four brothers and sisters.
