Emma D. Anderson was born on February 13, 1911, in Van Metre, South Dakota to Soren Martin and Anna Martha Anderson. She grew up on a homestead near White Clay Creek. She attended a country school across the creek from the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Emma married John Egerdal on September 26, 1938 in Pierre, South Dakota. John passed away in 1990. Emma was a homemaker all of her life and liked canning, baking, children, cats, dogs and flowers. She was also known for her ability to play the piano by ear. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Van Metre.
Emma is survived by two sisters-in-law, Hazel Anderson of Fort Pierre and Lynda Anderson of Midland; two special nieces, Shari Anderson of Pierre and Leilani Hand and husband Tom of Midland; several other nieces and nephews and special friends Orville and Lola Anderson of Murdo and the Vesely family of Draper. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and five sisters.
