The Murdo Coyote:
'Death Summons Early Settler.' Soren M. Anderson, early settler on White Clay, answers final summons. Memorial Day Funeral held Tuesday.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Immanuel church near Van Metre for Soren Martin Anderson, who died at his home on White Clay the morning of May 30th after an illness of four months . Reverend O. H. Olson officiated at the service and burial was made in the Monson Cemetery where Mrs. Anderson is resting. Mrs. Anderson died August 17, 1932. M. D. Sorenson and son William, Murdo funeral directors, were in charge of the funeral on Tuesday and a large crowd turned out to pay their last respects to a useful pioneer citizen of Jones County. The pallbearers for Mr. Anderson were Thor E. Egerdal, Arnie Peterson, Thor Jorgensen, E. L. Nordahl, Louis Anker, and E. L. Callihan.

Mr. Anderson was born on May 22, 1865 at Skudesnea, Norway and at the time of his death on Saturday he was 71 years and 7 days old. The deceased came to America as a youth and first located at Lodi, Clark County, Illinois. In 1886 he was married to Anna Martha Johnson.
They were the parents of eleven children: Martha, Anna Mitchell, Bertha, Anders (deceased), Helene Johns (deceased), Ales Johnson, David, Albert, Bennie, Carl, and Emma. They also raised their grandson, Robert Johns.

Relatives from a distance that attended the funeral were: Able Olson and daughters Agnes and Francis; Ben Olson; and Dora Swenson and Dave Davidson, cousins of the deceased.

In the departure of this fine elderly gentlemen to the land beyond, northern Jones County loses a very valuable and useful citizen. He came to the White Clay Community as one of the early settlers to this County and uncomplainingly and diligently set about to establish himself and family in their new home; staunch in the belief that there were opportunities here, and his faith was rewarded in fair measure because of his unwavering application to the aims he set out to bring it to blossom.

The people of the County extend sympathy to the children in the loss of a kindly and considerate father.
