He was born on February 5, 1935 in Kilbourne, IL to Robert H. Bailey and Lela Friend. He married Katherine Allard and she survivies.

He has 3 sons- Rodney (Delores) Bailey, Daran Bailey, Bradley Bailey. One step son- Eric (Edith) Allard. 3 daughters- Dara (Roy) Bennett, Valerie Stutsman, Kimberly (Terry) Bennett. 4 step daughters- Jeanette Antonceer, Judy (Alford) Ladd, Annette (Rodger) Bassett, Phyllis Smith. 15 step-grandchildren, 22 step-great-grandchildren, 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister- Marsha Roberts of Cortez, CO., 3 half-sisters- Eloise Toland of Metamora, IL., Estie Maddox of NM., and Eileen Esselman of Vila Grove, IL.. He was preceeded in death by one son-Brian Bailey, 1 step-brother and 3 great-grandchildren.

He worked at Caterpillar for 31 years as well as for Bailey's Tree Service.
