Hazel was born on March 19, 1926, the daughter of Gordon and Nadine (Harmon) Peterson on the family farmstead in McHenry County. Hazel attended school in Granville, ND.
Hazel was united in marriage to Earl A. Wegener on May 14, 1943, in Liberal, Kansas.
Earl passed away on July 19, 1974.
Hazel enjoyed her home, she loved doing yardwork, tending to her flowers and bird bath, and feeding the birds and squirrels. Hazel enjoyed spending time with her beloved sister Inez. She loved to dance and enjoyed attending and working the Norsk Hostafest. She enjoyed the occasional fun trip to the Casinos. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
Hazel was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Survivors: daughters, Barbara Hjermstad, Fargo, ND and Diane Aafedt, Wichita, KS; three grandchildren, Mark (Mary) Hjermstad, Moorhead, MN, Tanya Kippen, West Fargo, ND and Beth Ann (John) Kay, Wichita, KS; five great grandchildren, Brandon and Douglas Hjermstad, Samantha Teschendorf, Duncan Kippen and Sara Kay; sister, Inez (Bob) Serr, Minot and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; parents; brother, Gerald Peterson; sister, Helma Brandt, sons-in-law, Douglas Hjermstad and Charles Aafedt and her beloved dachshunds.
