Inez Serr, 89, Minot, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in a Minot hospital.
Inez Jenell Peterson was born on October 8, 1928, the daughter of Gordon and Nadine (Harmon) Peterson. She attended school in Granville, ND through the eighth grade, when she transferred to Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1946. She was employed during her high school years at Stevenson’s Dress shop and following her graduation as a Dental Hygienist.
On July 29, 1950, Inez was united in marriage to Robert M. Serr in Olivet Lutheran Church, in Fargo. They made their home in Minot, where they raised their three children, Michael, Merrill and Jenell. Robert passed away on May 10, 1995. Following his death, Inez continued to live in Minot.
Family was very important to Inez, and she cherished the time spent with them. She especially loved Christmas and Easter. When she was 15 years old, Inez became a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Minot. She served as a Boy Scout Den Mother, enjoyed gardening, sewing, visiting the casino with her sister Hazel, and was very hard working. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all that knew her.
Inez is survived by Son: Michael M. (Mary) Serr, Bismarck, ND; daughter: Jenell Serr, Minot; Daughter-in-law: Alice Serr, Mandan; Four grandchildren: Tracy Bigelow, Bismarck, Emily Shockency, Mandan, Steven (Kari) Serr, Mandan and Nicole DeCoteau, Minot; four great-grandchildren: Abby and Jack, both of Bismarck, Autumn and David, both of Minot; two nieces: Barbara Hjermstad, Fargo, ND and Diane Aafedt, Wichita, KS. Several nephews and cousins also survive.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, son Merrill, a grandson Travis and siblings Helma Brandt, Hazel Wegener and Jerry Peterson.
