Frances T. Abdella of Eckert died Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, at Horizons Care Center in Eckert. She was 86.

Mrs. Abdella was born May 23, 1920, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Frank and Bettie (Russin) Manganice. She spent her childhood and graduated from high school in Port Arthur, Texas.

She married Lavelle Harper. He preceded her in death. She later married Ed Abdella. He also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Abdella lived in Lafayette, La., for 15 years before moving to Eckert. She enjoyed square dancing and corresponding in writing with family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Harper and his wife Mary of Delta, and William Harper of Torrington, Wyo.; three stepsons, Charles Harper of Palestine, Texas, Jerry Harper of Houston, Texas, and John Abdella of Lafayette, La.; a stepdaughter, Melba Freeman of Palestine, Texas; a brother, Fred Manganice of Groves, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Socia and Carrie Lasalle, both of Groves, Texas; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. at Mesa View Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Mesa View Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. with Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. in Mesa View Mortuary Chapel.
