George was a son of Thomas Jefferson Sketo and Polly Ann Brock.
Thomas Jefferson "TJ" Sketo (1825-1905) was married three times and had 18 children. Each wife had 6 children. Thomas Skittoe married Polly Ann (MollyAnn) Brock on 27 Feb. 1844 in Perry Co., IN. His third wife is credited with listing wrong years of birth and death on his tombstone. Thomas J Sketo married third Mrs. Pauline (Huffer)Arms on 18 Aug 1882 in Davies Co., IN.

1) William Henry Sketo 1847-1907
2) Margaret Jane Sketo b. 1848. Married Daniel Jackson. 1880 census Perry Co., IN.
3) John Thomas Sketo 1856-1893. Died of TB. His father died of TB in 1905.
4) Delilah Anna Sketo 1859-1912.
5) James Sketo born in 1850's died @1863 of brain fever.
6) George Washington Sketo born Oct 14, 1861

TJ enrolled seven days after George was born and served until Jan. 1865. PollyAnn died while TJ was in the war. Jefferson Sketo married second Louisiana (Louzann) Hensley on 2 Mar. 1865 in Perry Co.

James Ater 59, James Ater 21,...., George Skedo 19 IN

Due to disagreement with his father, George left home by 19 and moved to Breckenridge Co., KY.

George Sketo married Martha Cashman on 6 Dec. 1894 in Perry Co. George is buried Raymond Cemetery, Frymire. Two children: Vertis Sketo and Gladys Sketo born 7/22/1897 in Lodiburg, KY. Gladys married Hubert Philpott 28 Jan 1919 in Perry Co IN.

George's death certificate has him and both parents as born in Indiana. Vertis Sketo informant. Thomas Jefferson Sketo was born in Kentucky.
