Marie Adams, 89, passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 at her home in Dighton. She was born November 30, 1919 in Dighton, Kansas to Samuel David and Minnie Myrtle (Rockwell) Martin. Marie was married to Evertt S. Adams on June 2, 1946 in Dighton, Kansas.

Marie was born and raised in Dighton. She attended grade school and Dighton High School, graduating in 1937. Marie graduated from Ft. Hays State College. She taught high school mathematics and commerce at Ada, Bazine, Leoti and Healy, Kansas for a total of 28 years. Marie was very active in her church and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a project leader in the 4-H club which all her children participated. Marie was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. She loved to read and never passed up the opportunnity to learn something new. Marie was a member of the First Christian Church of Dighton and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the Eastern Star #241 and a member of the Ft. Hays State University Alumni. Marie was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Rex.

Survivors include her husband, Everett S. Adams, the home; one son, Duane (Lyndel) Adams, Russell, KS; three daughters, Mary (James) Conrad, Leon, KS; Mona (Richard) Klaus, Schoenchen, KS; Rita (Harold) Gossett, Jr., Park City, UT; two sisters, Mattie Hartman, Dighton, KS; Betty Knauf, Conroe, TX; five grandchildren, Anita Uphoff, Dustin Gossett, Douglas Gossett, Cassidy Gossett and Cody Gossett.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Dighton with Rev. Howard Bever officiating. Burial will be held at the Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund, Healy High School, Diamond View Estates or St. Catherine Hospice all in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton.

Calling hours will be from 3:00 to 8:00 pm Monday and 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Boomhower Funeral Home.
