A native of Madison County he resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Adams and Merlie Wallin Adams.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Vincent Adams; sister, Jean Sizemore; and brothers: Nolan, Wayne, Doug, Ervin, and Garland Adams.
Pastor Adams was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War on the USS New Jersey, and worked for American Enka and was a pipe fitter for the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 487 in Asheville. He Pastored Sunny Side Missionary Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Joan Anders Adams ; sons: Douglas Neal Adams and wife Loretta, Bryan Dexter Adams, Arnold Kevin Adams all of Leicester, and Joel Bently Adams and wife Janice of Elizabethton, TN; sister, Faye Adams of Marshall; brothers: Ward Adams of Asheville, and Andrew Adams and wife Annette of Ingleside, TX; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, July 19, 2018, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Sam Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the Adams Family Cemetery.
