DOLES, SARAH ELIZABETH DUTTON NAUGLE 99, died Monday afternoon at Greenbriar at the Altamont, where she had lived for almost 2 years. She was born in Iowa Point, Kansas on March 13, 1905. She was the last surviving child of 8 children. She married Noble Elden Naugle in 1922 and they had one son, Noble E. Naugle, Jr. Noble and Elizabeth lived in many places during their marriage, including Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Colorado, Washington, and California before retiring back to Iowa Point in 1967, where they lived until Mr. Naugle died in 1979. At that time, Elizabeth moved to Birmingham to be with her daughter-in-law and her grandchildren (her son Noble, Jr. died in 1976), Elizabeth joined the Vestavia Hills Baptist Church and then attended the Vestavia Alliance Church after her marriage to Iverson W. Dole. After his death in 1995, both church families continued to minister to Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Peggy Naugle of Birmingham, AL; and her 4 grandchildren, Nancy Hentz of Birmingham, AL. Judy Lester of Baton Rouge, LA, Noble E. Naugle, III of Vincent, AL, and Carol Hoehn of Centerreach, NY; as well as, 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three of Mr. Doles' sons and their families, Harold Doles of Chiefland, FL, Warner Doles of Gastonia, NC, and Danny Doles of Dunnellon, FL. The Funeral Service will be held at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, on Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. and there will also be a visitation one hour prior to the service starting at 3:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, 879-3401.
