Myrtle “Merna” Irene Abbott Cooper passed from this world into the hands of Jesus in heaven on January 13, 2019 at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the home of her nephew and niece, Tommy and Lin Chaffin. She was born on March 30, 1915 and would have been 104 on that date this year. She was a remarkable, strong and talented woman that lived by herself with her faithful companion “Putter” until March of last year. She loved to garden, cook, paint and most of all spend time with her family who loved her so much. She never had children of her own, but was mother to many nieces and nephews who are forever grateful to have had her in their lives.
She gave her life to Jesus and was baptized at the age of 15 and was a good and faithful servant of God her whole life. She married Elmer Cooper on March 8, 1947 and they had many great years together on their little piece of heaven south of Ada. She was preceded in death by Elmer, her father Jordan Avner Abbott, Mother, Zona Irene Abbott, brothers, Barney Abbott, Jordan Abbott, Monroe Abbott, Kenneth Abbott and Vernon and sisters Lillie Bradshaw, Mary Camden, Lavada Mahan, and Rachel Aday. She is survived by a sister, Carolyn Aday and many nieces, nephews, cousins, etc.
Pall Bearers will be Aaron Aday, Carl Hightower, Vince Abbott, Eric Brown, Jeremy Russell and Danny James. Honorary Bearers are Jack Aday, Russell Aday, Dale Felkins, Kenneth Dean Cooper and Don Price. We could never have gotten through the last few months without our beloved caregivers Linda Rodrigio, Kim Ward, Kristy Trejo, Chantay Whitaker and Robin Watson.
