Professional Football Player. For five seasons (1945 to 1949), he played at the offensive end position in the National Football League with the Washington Redskins. Born John William Adams, he attended Subiaco Academy in Subiaco, Arkansas, and played collegiate football and basketball at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana from 1942 to 1944. While at Notre Dame he was the backup for Ziggy Czarobski on the 1943 Championship team and then he became the starting tackle in 1944. He was chosen by the Washington Redskins in the 3rd Round of the 1945 NFL Draft and appeared in 55 career games with them. He also had 26 games started and 5 fumble recoveries. He was coached by the legendary Frank Leahy and his teammates included Eddie Saenz, Charlie Conerly, Don Nolander, Milfred Dreblow, Ed Stanco, and John Steber. After his retirement from football, he became a builder and developer. He died in his 45th year following a short illness. He was survived by his wife Rosemary and 10 children.
