Elda Adams, 87, passed away on March 22, 2020, at the Sunset Drive – a Prospera Community in Mandan, ND. A private family burial will be held.

Elda Marie Koon was born September 23, 1932, to Elmer and Leona (Tice) Koon in Driscoll, ND. She attended school in Driscoll and graduated in 1950. She married Eugene Adams on June 20, 1950.
Elda was a homemaker when they lived south of Steele, Dickinson, and Bismarck between 1950 and 1970. In 1970, Elda and Gene owned and operated Adams’ Grocery in Tappen, North Dakota, until they retired in 1995. They also made their home in Steele in later retirement years.

They were faithful members of Zion United Methodist Church in Tappen. She taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of United Methodist Women. Elda and Gene were inducted into the Dakota United Methodist Youth Workers Hall of Fame in 1994. For many years, they led youth group in their home.

Elda’s faith and her family were her first priority in her life. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, animals, and sports. Her hospitality was obvious in her home and at the grocery store. She was well known for her delicious chocolate cake and potato salad.

Elda is survived by her four sons, Kenneth Adams (Darlene Stanford-Adams) of Wahpeton, ND; Loren Adams of Dickinson, ND; Bruce (Cathy) Adams of Mandan, ND; and James (Rebecca) Adams of Pipe Creek, TX; brother, Loren Gene (Marlene) Koon, Willows, CA; seven grandchildren, Calli (Nicholas), Amy, Evan (Faith), Noah, Jadyn, Isabelle, and Rae Anna; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents; sisters, Vera Power, Verna Hall; brothers, Virgil Koon, Elvin Koon, and Loren Dean Koon.
