Mrs. Lavonia Marshall Ackerman, 91, of Lancaster, widow of Harry Edward Ackerman peacefully passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 2, 1930 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Thomas Reece Marshall and Florence Julia Marshall. Although small in stature, she loved bigger than she was herself. She wore many hats: wife, mother, Maw Maw, Gigi, sister and aunt. Lavonia was a lifelong member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she served on many committees. Due to her size, she acquired the nickname "Teenie" from her dad and brothers. She was a former member of the Red Rose Ramblers Square Dance Club.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ackerman will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 at 3 p.m. from the graveside at St. Luke United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Hatcher officiating.

Mrs. Ackerman is survived by a daughter, Karen Ackerman Martin (Charles) of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Aaron Ackerman (Jennifer), Katie Martin, Leigh-Ann Bailey (Michael), and Kristen Martin Rollings (Keith); and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ackerman was preceded in death by a son, Edward Layton Ackerman; a granddaughter, Heather Ackerman; five brothers, J. B. Marshall, Cecil T. Marshall, Bryant R. Marshall, Carl Eugene "Gene" Marshall and William Lewis Marshall; and three sisters, Margaret Huckabee, Sara Hunter and Martha Barrineau.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
