Mr. and Mrs. Wm Young have the sympathy of the community in the loss of their small son who died from ptomaine poisoning after an illness of but twenty-four hours. He was two years and six months of age, a bright little fellow and will be greatly missed in the home circle. (The Adams Co Leader, Council, Idaho, Friday, October 15, 1920)

The whole family became ill after eating. Benny's father got everyone into a buckboard wagon and drove the horses to Cambridge to see a doctor. Benny being the youngest, did not survive. His mother was so devastated that she refused to live on the homestead with its memories. Benny's father set her up in a home in Cambridge. She never returned to the homestead in Indian Valley. Benny is buried to the side of his mother Bedelia.
