Ethel was married three times. She married Elmo Nix and they had one daughter. They were divorced. She later married Austin Newton and had a daughter and a son. They were divorced. Ethel them married Robert E. Schmitt in Missoula, Montana. They lived in Wallace, Idaho where she ran a hotel with her mother and sister Pansy in the late 1940's. Ethel and Robert found their way to Albany, Oregon in 1956 after living in Las Vegas, Nevada for a time. In 1976, they moved to Lebanon and lived along the Santiam River. As a hobby, Ethel loved to make dolls.
Ethel's children Clarence Newton, Donna Brower and Joy Wardinski survived her as well as her husband Robert. She was also survived by her brother Joe Young and sister Ellen Woolery, as well as 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two sisters Pansy Acordagoitia, Kitty Hill, brothers Benny and Charley, as well as her parents.
