IN MEMORY OF Clifford Larry Anderson of Murdo, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Avantara Pierre Nursing Home at the age of 84.

Clifford Anderson was born Nov. 29, 1939, to Helge and Opal (Newsam) Anderson and was raised in rural Jones County, where he learned a strong work ethic and was a member of 4-H growing up. Cliff attended school in Murdo, SD. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was an electrician on aircraft carriers.

When Cliff returned from his time in the Navy, he married "K.W.", of Draper, SD, in 1961. From this union, they welcomed their son in 1962. Clifford was joined in marriage to "M.Y.", from Minneapolis, MN, in 1964. Margaret brought into this union a stepson. Into this family were born 2 children. Cliff and "B.G." married in 1992 and were together until his death.

He pursued his career as a self-employed auto mechanic and welder and served his hometown area for most of his life. In his free time, he enjoyed various hobbies including becoming one of the first volunteer EMTs. With a small, dedicated group, he started what is now known as the Jones County Ambulance service. Cliff enjoyed being on the water with his boat and family and became a quite accomplished water skier. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a deep love for the great outdoors.

Survivors include his beloved wife; his sons; his daughter; stepson; 2 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helge and Opal; an infant sister, Marian; his brother, Douglas, and his wife, Wanda, and their son Shane; as well as by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Please join us in remembering Clifford Larry Anderson, a loving father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
