Dora Lee Buckner Newman, age 67 of Madisonville, TN, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024. Dora was a simple woman who loved her family dearly. At any given time of the day, you could see her sitting on her porch talking on the phone or watching the birds in her front yard. She loved to sew and enjoyed passing that skill on to her older granddaughters, Sophia and Savannah.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Newman; parents, Robert and Myrtle (Ingram) Buckner; brothers, Gene (Linda) Buckner, Colonel Buckner; sisters, Linda Faye Brogdon, Kitty Sue Aaron, Nora (Buddy) Nation and Constance "Connie" Buckner. Survivors include her daughter, her son, six grandchildren, two sisters, several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Janet.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 15th, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Etowah, 300 N Tennessee Ave. Etowah, TN 37331. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Mars Hill Cemetery, 267 Co. Rd. 508 Englewood, TN with Pastor Randall Vanhoose officiating.
