Former Anchorage, Alaska, resident Carolyn Oskolkoff Reifsnyder, 89, passed away on Dec. 20, 2022, in League City, Texas. She was born on July 28, 1933, in Ninilchik village, Alaska, the youngest daughter of Reverend Michael G. Oskolkoff and Matushka Zoya (Darien) Oskolkoff.


Carolyn was an artist and accomplished painter, and enjoyed singing, gardening, moose hunting and clam digging. She was a member of the Anchorage chapter of the Sweet Adelines International and performed onstage at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

She worked in administration at the Alaska Native Medical Center and spent many years as an executive secretary at the Bureau of Indian Affairs.


Carolyn traveled the world with her second husband, Lt. Col. Frank W. Reifsnyder, briefly living in Germany during his military service. She eventually sold her house in Anchorage and relocated to Palm Springs, Calif., spending summers at her cabin in Ninilchik. Her final years were spent in League City.


Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Reifsnyder; daughter, Kimberly Issermoyer Clay; her parents; brothers, Larry, Grassim, Gus, Michael Jr., Allen and Ralph; and sisters, Alice Bouwens and Ella Woodhead.

She is survived by her son, Mike Issermoyer of League City; brother, Arnold Oskolkoff of Kenai, Alaska; sister, Nancy Ahlrich of Kenai; and many nieces and nephews.
