Anchorage resident Alice Larissa Bouwens, 85, died Feb. 18, 2010, at the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Innocent Russian Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at The Transfiguration of Our Lord Russian Orthodox Church in Ninilchik.

Alice was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Ninilchik to Michael and Zoya Oskolkoff.

A life devoted to her church, St. Innocent Russian Orthodox Church in Anchorage, where Alice was a frequent volunteer, was complemented by many years of service in American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1 Jack Henry Post in Anchorage. She also was a member of the VFW and the Moose Lodge.

Alice loved the outdoors. She and her husband Bill homesteaded in Ninilchik, spending summers there, while enjoying the activities, family and friends at the family cabin and the surrounding area. Her family was the highlight of her life, and children always brought a sparkle to her eyes. Alice and Bill spent their retirement traveling extensively.

Alice is survived by her sisters, Ella Woodhead, Nancy Ahldrich and Carolyn Riefsnyder; brother, Arnold Oskolkoff; children, Camille Walls, Bill Jr., Mike and wife Pat, Dan and wife Cindy, and Ray Bouwens; cherished grandchildren, Laurie Campbell, Bobby Radcliffe, April Kyle, Ryan, Kira, Chad and Troy Bouwens and John, Tim and Amy Walls; and several great-grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William.

While Alice loved flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the church in Ninilchik, P.O. Box 39112, Ninilchik 99639.
