Elma Adams, 84, died August 18, 2003, at her residence in Evans County after an extended illness. The Bulloch County native had resided in Evans County for most of her life. She and her husband owned and operated Adams Floor Covering for over 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Nevil.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Delmas H. Adams of Claxton; one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Farris Cowart of Seabrook Island, South Carolina; one brother, Jake Bowen of Stuart, Florida; three sisters: Lucille Allen of Savannah; Bonnie Moore of Jacksonville; and Anne Morgan of Albany; four grandchildren and spouses: Leigh and Gary Bell of Bellville; Joe Nevil of Statesboro; Sonya and Ricky Bland of Glennville; and April and Anthony Tippins of Conyers; four great-grandchildren: Jarrod Strickland of Claxton; Colton Bland of Glennville; and Brett Tippins and Logan Tippins of Conyers; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Brewton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jarrod Strickland, Colton Bland, Brett Tippins, Fred Daniel, Gary Tippins, and Billy Daniel.
J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home of Claxton, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
