He worked in the shipyards in Washington state during WWII. They returned to Watertown, South Dakota in 1944. They went back to Washington for a time. They later moved to a farm in Minnesota for nine years but returned to Watertown to continue farming. After they retired they traveled extensively in the United States, often to Blue Grass Festivals.
His son, Wayne, passed away January 23, 2013 and is located here.
