Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, February 21, 1889
DIED - February 12th, 1889, at his home in Pleasant township, Lucas county, Iowa, Mr. John C. Morford, aged 63 years and 25 days.
The deceased was born near Oxford, Ohio, and with his father (his mother being dead) moved to Iowa when 19 years of age. He was married to Miss Sarah J. McVey in April of 1852, she, with seven children surviving him, 3 being dead.
His death was caused by Bright's disease, which resulted in uremic poisoning, causing him to pass away quite unexpectedly.
He was an old and respected citizen of Pleasant township, having lived at the home where he died for more than 30 years.
An unusually large number of people attended his funeral. He was buried in the Coal Glen cemetery near his home.
