MRS. SARAH MORFORD
Sarah J. McVey, daughter of John and Olive McVey, was born in Virginia, on April 9th, 1836, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Hulgan, in Knoxville, Iowa, on June 20th, 1919, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 1 day.
She was united in marriage to John Morford in Henry county, Iowa, April 11th, 1852, who preceded her in death on February 12, 1889. They moved to Lucas county in April, 1852, where she resided until seven years ago, since which time she has made her home with her children.
To their union were born ten children: Eliza Ellen Buzzard, of Knoxville, William Allen, deceased, Charlotte Rebecca, deceased, Lucinda Bell Abbott, of Hartford, Indiana, Sarah Anna, deceased, Effie Lavina Lookabaugh, of Lindenwood, Ill., Lillie Mirth Crall, of Chariton, Nana Innocence, deceased, Ethan Everett, of Leona, Kan., and Mary Elizabeth Hulgan, of Knoxville.
Besides her children, she leaves twenty-seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Celestine Moon, of Columbia, Mrs. John Johnston, of Lovilia, and one brother, John McVey, of Russell.
She was converted when a girl of 16 years and united with the Methodist church and has since lived a Christian life. During her last hours she stated that she knew her earthly career was nearing its close and that she was ready and glad to go.
