Graveside services for Clement Vincent Abeln, 63, who died Thursday at Rapid City Regional Hospital, will be Saturday July 30, 1988, at Bell Park Cemetery near Rochford. The Rev. Dick Bouroude will officiate.
Memorial services will be Sunday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hermosa, with Rev. Bouroude officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday at Behrens Mortuary. Family and friends are to meet at the mortuary Saturday at noon or meet in Rochford at 1 p.m.
He was born May 6, 1925, at Vivian to John and Emma (Abeln) Abeln.
He moved from Vivian to Rochford in 1928. He later moved to Hill City and then in 1939 to Rapid City. He lived in Hermosa the past 26 years.
When he was 17 years old, he entered the Navy during World War II and served from 1942 to 1946. After his service, he returned to graduate from Rapid City High School in 1947.
He worked for the National Guard as a gun mechanic, and later worked at the Rapid City Post Office as a letter carrier and supervisor for 33 years. He retired in 1981.
He married Eldora Semmler July 30, 1960, at Hermosa.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hermosa.
He is survived by his wife of Hermosa; two sons, Claude Abeln of Hermosa, and Lincoln Abeln of Littleton, CO; three daughters, Amy, Molly, and Renee of Hermosa; three brothers, Joseph Abeln of Rapid City, Francis L. Abeln of Gresham, OR, and Leonard Abeln of Sturgis; four sisters, Marge Hanford and Rosalie Wheeler of Rapid City; Lorraine Alseth of Billings, MT, and Josephine Byre of Oacoma; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
