Former Husband Expected To Be Charged With 1st Degree Murder Today

Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Emiline Sapp, 44, Trinity 1, who died at 1 p.m. Sunday of pistol wounds inflicted by her husband, Howard Sapp, 48, Hartselle, Saturday at 11 a.m., will be tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Johnson's Chapel.

The Rev. C. G. Reding and the Rev. Dennis Tucker will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Sapp is in Morgan County jail where charges of first degree murder will be issued some time today, according to County Judge R. L. Hundley.

State Investigator Bob Godwin and Lt. Ernest Bowman of the Decatur police questioned Sapp Saturday after he was lodged in jail. Godwin this morning said Sapp told him "he was drunk and didn't know what happened." No motive has been established for the Saturday morning shooting at Big Bob Gibson's Bar-B-Q here.

Sapp was arrested about 30 minutes minutes after the shooting five miles west of Hartselle on Highway 36 by Lt. Roy Bradford and M. P. Braswell of the Highway Patrol.

Mrs. Sapp and her daughter, Mrs. Clint Keenum, arrived at the café about 11 a.m. and Sapp entered the café a few minutes later. She had been divorced

The body of Mrs. Sapp will be taken to the home of her daughter at Trinity late this afternoon.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Keenum, and Mrs. Clyde Hembree, Danville; a son, Harold Wayne Sapp, Danville; five sisters, Mrs. D. R. Smith, Moulton 2, Mrs. Mrs. Onzolo Abbott, Phil Campbell, Ala., Mrs. Jack Clark, Russellville, Ala., Mrs. Billie Letson, Rogersville, Ala., Mrs. Elmer Parker, Decatur; four brothers, Richard Ferguson, Town Creek, Fenell, Trinity, Grover Ferguson, Trinity, Hal Ferguson, Decatur; four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wendall McLemore, Coy McLemore, Bob Fulmer, Marion Drake, Ray Proctor, and Coy Hembree.
