Summary
Linton – Elizabeth Mattern, 93, died 22 Jul 1993 in a Strasburg nursing home. Services will be Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, burial in church cemetery. Rosary Sunday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth Schumacher was born 29 Sep 1899 on a farm near Zeeland. She married Ferdinand Mattern 11 Feb 1919, at Strasburg. They farmed south of Strasburg until 1930 when they moved to a farm west of Linton. They moved to Strasburg in 1947 and operated Mattern Bar and Blue Room. Mr. Mattern died in 1972, she moved to Linton in 1973 and entered Strasburg Nursing Home in 1989.
Survived by 2 sons, Leo (Julia) of Bismarck and Elmer (Hilda) of Shenandoah, IA; 2 daughters, Adeline Godair of Tavernier, FL and Betty (Syl) Schumacher of Linton; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Adam Smith (sic- Schumacher) of Livingston, MT; 3 sisters, Mary Ervin of Gorham, CA, Eva Moszer of Fargo, ND and Jean Reis of Strasburg.
Preceded in death by 1 son; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; 2 stepbrothers; 1 stepsister.
