Services were held Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Linton for Mike Schumacher, 82, who died last Wednesday (8 Apr 1992) at his home in Linton. Casketbearers were dick Nickolas, harry Lawler, John Reis, Jerry Moszer, Theo Balliet and Mike G Schumacher. Burial in church cemetery with military honors by the Linton American Legion.
Mike was born 7 Oct 1909, on a farm near Zeeland, son of Sebastian and Mary (Black) Schumacher. At age 5 he moved to Linton with his family.
He worked in Linton before entering the US ARMY in 1943, serving in the Pacific and European theaters. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to Linton.
On 28 Nov 1947, he married Frances Volk at Bismarck. The lived in Linton where for 12 years he served at Emmons Co. Sherriff, was in partnership at the Linton Taylor Shop and transported special education students from Strasburg to Linton for several years. Member of Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include 1 son, Mike G Schumacher of Bismarck; 1 brother Adam Smith of Livingston, MT; 4 sisters, Jean Reis and Elizabeth Mattern both of Strasburg, Eva Moszer of Fargo and Mary Ervin of Gorham, CA; 2 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 stepbrothers, 1 stepsister.
