Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Abel Webster, 83, of Lexington were held at 2:00 p.m. at Harland Creek Baptist Church (near Lexington) with Rev. Roger Richardson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Webster died on Thursday, December 7 of congestive heart failure in Natchez Community Hospital in Natchez.
A native of Holmes County, she was a graduate of Holmes Junior College and Mississippi State University. She was a retired school teacher and had taught at Coxburg, Hesterville and Benton. She was a member of Harland Creek Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Daniel Henry Webster.
Survivors include: a son, Raymond Sims of Clinton; daughter, Vera Ann Pevey of Natchez; step-daughter, Frances Logan of Brandon; brother, Floyd Abel of Warner Robins, Georgia; sisters, Betty Chisolm and Kate Rogers, both of Lexington, Nettie Halford of Belzoni and Clara Clark of Mobile, Alabama; five grandchildren and two grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Frank Rogers, Mike Meeks, Joe “Snow” Ables, David Meeks, Eddie Swann and Charlie Thibadeaux.
