Funeral services for Homer E. Bennett, 68, a lifelong resident of the Carnegie community, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 7, at the Alfalfa Baptist church. Rev. Jimmie Riddlespurger officiated.
He was at work on a county rod when he took suddenly ill last Tuesday. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the local hospital.
Homer Ezra Bennett was born July 18, 1902 near Alfalfa. He had been a member of the county road crew in this district for many years. he was married to Mirth Bell Bennett January 22, 1921. She preceded him in death in April of 1970. He also was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include a son, Merrill Homer (Pete)of Carnegie; two granddaughters, Carla of Texas and Bridgett of Carnegie; two brothers, Mike of Carnegie and Luther of California; six sisters, Irene Rhoades of Carnegie, Mildred Hudgins of Oklahoma City, Opal Snelgrove of Tulsa, Ruby Jeck of Crescent, Nora Aaron and Edna Bowerman of California.
