Prominent Newburgh Woman Laid to Rest at Goose River on Tuesday Afternoon

Services for Mrs. John Aaland were held at the home at 1 p.m. and at 2 p.m. at the Goose River Church Tuesday, December 28. Interment was made in the Goose River churchyard cemetery with Rev. A.E. Setness officiating. Mrs. John Mark sang "En Liten Stund" and Rev. Hans Nelson, Milltown, Wis., spoke on behalf of the family.
Pallbearers were Ernest Berg, Edward Pladson, Ernest Stavens, Clark Enger, Douglas Enger and Nicolie Pladson.
Mrs. John Aaland was born August 3, 1896, of parents, Ole and Maren Midboe in Newburgh township, Steele County. She was baptized by the late Rev. Bernhard Tollefson and confirmed by Rev. A. J. Eikeland. On Jan. 6, 1928 she was married to John Aaland. To this home three children were given: Ruby, Otto and Jean, all at home. Their home had been in Newburgh township on the Midboe farm. Mrs. Aaland was a life-long member of the Goose River Lutheran Church. She died on Thursday, December 23 after a short illness.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and children, are four brothers, Tobias Midboe of Minneapolis; Tollef and Halvor Midboe of Hatton; and Torger Midboe of Milltown, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Aslak Nordbo and Inger Midboe of Hatton; and two adopted sisters, Mrs. Clarence Hogenson of Mekinock and Louise Holdahl of Hatton, and an adopted brother, Bernt Onerheim of Grand Forks. – Hatton Free Press, Dec. 30, 1948
