Walter W. ‘Doc' West 68 of Frankfort, IN, died 11:23 am June 6, 2010 at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana.

He was born February 25, 1942 in Wayne County, Kentucky to Cecil Lee & Elma (McDaniel) West. He married Sharon K. Martin on September 30, 1961 in Frankfort and she survives.

Mr. West attended Mills Springs School and grew up in Wayne County, Kentucky. He moved to Indiana in 1961 at the age of 19. He worked for the Frankfort Street Department for 9 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. West was known as the "tomato man".

He is survived by his wife, Sharon West of Frankfort; three sons, Walter W. (Andrea) West Jr. of Frankfort, Joseph M. (Rhonda) West of Frankfort and Christopher G. (Ellie) West of Frankfort; two daughters, Melisa K.(Philip) West Gleason of Frankfort and Brenda S.(Dan)West Hickerson of Frankfort; two brothers, Henry(Mary) West of Frankfort and Rex(Cathy) West of Monticello, Kentucky; one sister, Carrie(Charles)Bates of Monticello, Kentucky; and 14 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Etta West; a granddaughter, Nikki Nicole Morgan; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8th at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.
