Mary A. "Ann" Herron, 87 of Rochester, passed away on Monday June 7th at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

She was born on August 31, 1922 in Dover, the daughter of Albert G. and Florida M. (Gingras) Abbott. She was raised and educated in Dover and had graduated from St. Mary's High School.

She had worked at the Portsmouth Naval Ship yard as a cashier, where she met her husband Robert N. Herron. Mary had also worked as an inspector for Clarostat in Dover for 32 years, she retired in 1985.

Ann was a volunteer nurse's aid for the American Red Cross, Dover Chapter at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital during WWII. She loved to play BINGO, spend time with her grandchildren and watch TV game shows. Ann also enjoyed swimming in the pool in her back yard. A very religious woman, she was an active member of the St. Mary's Church prayer chain.

Ann was predeceased by her husband Robert N. Herron in 1986. She is survived by her son Robert A. Herron of Dover. Daughters; Jackie A. Herron and Sandra J. Whitehouse and her husband Albert, all of Rochester. Brother, Arthur G. Abbott and his wife Lillian of Dover. Sister, Teresa D. Wallace of Stafford, VA. Grandchildren, Christopher Herron, Vicki Kerr, Jeremy and Jennifer Whitehouse. Eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. Ann was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Margaret Herron in 2005 as well as numerous brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday June 10th from 5-8 PM at Tasker Funeral Home 621 Central Ave in Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 11th at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church 71 Lowell Street in Rochester. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Rochester.
