Jewel Abbott, 84, died Monday, Jan. 25. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Abbott; son Rick Abbott; her parents, George Harley and Dovie Griggs Whisenant; brother Arnold Whisenant; and four sisters, Audrey Shannon, Francis Tucker, Esther Upchurch and Cornell Whisenant.
She is survived by her son, Steve Abbott, and his wife, Kay; grandsons Clint Abbott and Blake Abbott and his wife, Larissa; and sister Camilla Hanners of Duluth, Ga.
Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home. Service will follow in the chapel at 7 p.m. with Gary Patton officiating. A private graveside service will be held Friday morning. rrangements under the direction of Roselawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, Decatur, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley or the Alzheimer's Association.
