Butler Man Killed
In Gin Accident
Emery C. Ackley, 41 year - old Butler man, was killed Monday afternoon when he was pulled into a machine at the Butler cotton gin.
Witnesses said Ackley's arm was caught by a belt and the man was dragged into the machine before he could be assisted.
He apparently died instantly.
An employee of the gin for two months, Ackley formerly lived in Amarillo, Tex.
Funeral arrangements for the man were incomplete this afternoon.

Services for Emery C. Ackley, 86 N. Maryland St. Amarillo, Texas, were held at 11 a. m. today (Thursday) at the First Baptist church in Hammon, with Rev. Cleo Martin, Pinedale Calif., officiating. Rev. Martin was assisted by Rev. Alvin N. Robinson, Butler, and Rev. R. F. Franks, Hammon.
Mr. Ackley was born January 5, 1915 at Hammon, and lost his life in a cotton gin accident October 15, when he was pulled into machinery by a belt at a gin in Butler.
He was a member of the Baptist church in Amarillo.
Survivors include his wife Velma Lee; three daughters, Floretta Jo, Mary Kay and alta Ann, and one son, J. T. Ackley, all of home address; one sister, Mrs. Retta Creswell, Elk City; five brothers, George, Pampa, Texas; Reed and Buford, both of Hammon; Glen, Aubura,(sic) Calif., and Hammon, San Luis Obispo, Calif.
