SILVERTON
Mildred Vandalia Perkins, 82, died Friday of cancer in Silverton.
She was born in Herington, Kansas. She was a homemaker. She moved to Silverton in 1938 from Yuma County. She picked beans for Killingworth Farm in the Stayton area for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking.
She married Wiliam J. Perkins on December 24, 1922 in McCook, Nebraska. He died February 1980.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Peterson-Cates of Silverton; sons, William J. Jr. of Portland, Vern of West Linn, Cledus of Sandy, Merle of Roseburg and Franklin of Salem, Iowa, and sisters, Fern Hibbert and Velda Coulter both of Kansas City, Missouri.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday in Unger Mortuary. Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today in the mortuary.
