Velda Blanche Coulter, 92, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Tuesday morning, March 9, 2010 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Lone Jack Baptist Church 202 S. Bynum Rd. Lone Jack, MO 64070. Burial will follow in Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the church. Donations may be made to Lone Jack Baptist Church Building Fund. Velda was born October 26, 1917 in Clyde, KS to Burl and Ethel May (Hart) Abbott. She graduated from Geneva North High School in Geneva, NE. She had worked in food service for the Kansas City, MO School District for 21 years from 1962 until she retired in 1983. She enjoyed reading and working puzzles. She supported the war effort during WWII by building B-25 bombers in the Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, KS. She was married to Floyd L. Coulter; he preceded her in death in January of 1973. Survivors include a son, Fred L. Coulter of Moxie, WA; 2 daughters, Linda Claxton and her husband Gary of Blue Springs, MO and Kathy Tyler and her husband Dean of Calhoun, MO; a sister, Fern Hibbert of Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren, Wayne Coulter, Kerri Dillinger, Quentin Coulter, Christian Claxton, Michael Claxton, Brandon Claxton, Aaron Hansen, Allison Tyler, Seth Tyler and Matthew Tyler and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mildred Perkins and Edna Lamb, 2 brothers, Howard and Clyde Abbott and a granddaughter, Melissa Lindsey.
