Mass of the Christian Burial for John Daiker, 90, a retired Auburn farmer who died Sunday, October 2, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, at St. Mary church here with the Rev. Msgr. Leo Lenz as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Huffman Memorial Chapel in Lake City after 2 p.m. Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at the Chapel at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Daiker is survived by his wife, Caroline, Auburn; five daughters, Mabel Schug, Auburn; Drusilla Abney, Minnesota; Coletta Mohr, Varina; Ethel Dress, Minnesota, and Marietta Kanne, Lidderdale; five sons: LeRoy, Mission, Tex.; Leonard, Fapata, Tex.; Cornelius, Auburn; Ivan, Onemmia, Minn., and Warren, Lohrville; 56 grandchildren and 86 great grandchildren; a brother, William Daiker, and a sister, Anna Gruber, both of Emmetsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son John, an infant daughter, three brothers and a sister.
Mr. Daiker was born in Carroll June 22, 1893, a son of John and Mary Catherine Nuesberg (Neuerburg) Daiker. He was married to Caroline Thelen on October 14, 1914, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church at Mount Carmel. He was a member of St. Mary church in Auburn.
