Memorial services for Ivan John Daiker, 78, were held on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with the Rev. Jon Olson officiating. Music was provided by Cheryl Bailey and Sue Rogers.
Ivan died on Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Laredo, Tex.
Ivan was born Oct. 5, 1928 to John and Caroline Daiker in Glidden, Iowa. He attended school in Auburn, Iowa where he lived util he moved to Minnesota. Ivan married Donna Wright on Sept. 8, 1949. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Princeton and a past member of the Onamia Area Lions, receiving the melvin Johnes Award for the Onama Lions Club. He was instrumental in starting the Onama Lions Swimming Scholarship Fund. Along with many other jobs he worked for Mille Lacs County Boat & Water Safety for 14 years and drove school bus for 33 years. he enjoyed fishing, hunting and his fruit trees. He always believed in living life to the fullest.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna; seven children, Mike (Kelly) of Pollock, S.D., Ila and husband Bill Rogers of Onamia, Mainard of Early, Iowa, myron (Lisa) of Pollock, S.D., Merlin and wife Becky of Princeton, Matthew and wife Lynn of Big Lake, Deanne and husband Rick Duncan of Princeton; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark; two grandsons, Tracy and Michael Daiker; three brothers, John, LeRoy, and Leonard and three sisters, Mabel Schug, Drusilla Abney and Ila Daiker.
Arrangements were by the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca, MN.
