Robert James Acker, 58, of Edgerton, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2005.

He was born on November 6, 1948 to James George and Helen Lucille (Pullen) Acker in Benkelman, NE. He grew up in Oshkosh, NE and in 1967 graduated from Garden County High School in Oshkosh.

On April 24, 1984 he was united in marriage to Mary Burkey. After their marriage they lived in Oshkosh and in 1999 they moved to Edgerton, MO where they made their home.

Bob worked for Haggard Drilling Company in Oshkosh for several years. He then went to work for Sprint where he retired in 2003. After his retirement he drove a caravan for St. Luke’s Hospital in Smithville, MO.

He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton. Bob also served for over 25 years for the Oshkosh Fire Department/EMT. He was also an EMT instructor in western Nebraska for many years.

Bob was preceded in death by his step-father, Red Mercure, and two brothers, Billy and Gary Acker.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, mother, Helen Mercure, Oshkosh, NE, father, Jim Acker and wife, Bonnie, one brother, Jim and five sisters, Karen, his twin sister, Barbara, Brenda, Jaynie and Donna; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 3rd at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton, MO
Visitation: 7:00-9:00 P.M. Friday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church
Graveside Service and Burial 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 5th at the Oshkosh City Cemetery, Oshkosh, NE
