On February 3, 1928 he was united in marriage to Stella Mahaney at Chamberlain and they made their home on a ranch two miles south of Murdo. He ranched and farmed until 1949 when he was elected as Sheriff of Jones County holding this positon either as sheriff or deputy sheriff along with his wife until 1969. They moved into Murdo in 1952.
Survivors included his wife Stella, one son Ben, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
