She was born Feb. 6, 1917, in Mitchell, S.D., the daughter of Abraham and Henrietta (Zanter) Adams. She moved with her family to Ojibwa in Sawyer County at the age of 6. She attended school at Radisson and graduated from Clayton High School. She worked as a telephone operator in Clayton. She was joined in marriage to Jay Dufty on November 2, 1940, in Radisson. The couple lived in Hayward until 1945 when they moved to a farm in the township of Lenroot. She worked for 27 years at the Hayward Hospital as a dietary aid and then became dietary supervisor. She retired in 1982. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Hayward where she taught Sunday school for many years and was active in the ladies aid.
She is survived by her daughter Donna (Frank) Romnes of Hayward; and three grandchildren, Christopher and Carrie Romnes and Dondee Gorski.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1981; her daughter Diane Joy Gorski in 1977; five brothers: Clifford, Howard, George, Walt and John Adams; and one sister, Mabel DeDominces.
Funeral: A service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 28, at the First Congregational Church in Hayward with Pastor David Benson officiating. Visitation at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.
Interment:Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
Casketbearers: Stanley, Marlon, Gary and David Adams, Byron Mott and Louis Talik.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Hayward Nursing Home, 11040N State Road 77, Hayward, WI 54843.
