Moscow -- Nettie Marie Leliefeld, a retired school cook and former Troy, Idaho, resident, died of causes related to age Monday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home at Moscow. She was 78.

She worked as a school cook for the Whitepine School District at Troy until retiring in 1985.

She was born July 25, 1913, on Little Bear Ridge near Troy to Nils and Bertha Marie Paulson Nilson. She grew up and attended schools at Troy and graduated from Moscow High School.

After graduation, she worked as a waitress at the Spokane Hotel.

She married Felix Nelson Jan. 1, 1935, at Troy, where they made their home. He worked as a lumberjack and mechanic. He died in June 1955.

She married Alfred (Fritz) Leliefeld at Moscow May 27, 1957. He died Aug. 29, 1964.

She had lived at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home for the past three years.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and Ladies of the Moose and enjoyed crafts, crocheting, playing bingo and cards, bowling and ceramics. She also enjoyed activities with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Nelson of Troy, Robert Nelson of Bellevue, Wash., and Dennis Nelson of Lewiston; a daughter, Pauline Cousins of Anacortes, Wash.; three brothers, Bill Nilson and Pete Nilson, both of Moscow and Marcus Nilson of California; a sister, Josie Calen of Clarkston; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Seven brothers and two sisters died previously.

Her funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Short's Funeral Chapel at Moscow with the Rev. Dennis Wassmuth of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Moscow officiating.

Burial will follow at the Moscow Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Troy Ambulance Fund.
