Mr. James H. Abbott, 86, of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Hospice LaGrange.
Mr. Abbott was born December 7, 1921 in La-Grange, and was the son of the late Otis and Izella Cadenhead Abbott.
He was a member of the Cedarcrest Community Church and retired from the LaGrange Ace Hardware.
Mr. Abbott was a plumber for 36 years with Marler Plumbing and Banks Plumbing and a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was an avid fisherman, a great story teller and was very athletic in his younger years enjoying swimming and diving.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Muriel Abbott of LaGrange; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Rick Pearson of Pensacola FL; a son and daughter-in-law, James Malvin (Joe) and Lynn Talley Abbott; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Crystal and Donnie Davis, all of Mobile AL; sisters, LaVerne Hanson and Mary Williams, both of LaGrange; and several nieces and nephews.
Cryptside services will be at 11:00 Friday at the Shadowlawn Mausoleum with Rev. Paul Botica officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions be made in memory of Mr. Abbott to the Cedarcrest Community Church building fund, or Hospice LaGrange.
The family of Mr. Abbott would like to express their appreciation to Hospice LaGrange for all the care they have received during the time of his illness.
