Ben Adams, 79, of East Point, died in a local nursing home Wednesday, September 4,1974 following an extended illness. The son of the late Tom and Mary Maude Spears Adams, he was born in Johnson County on October 13 1894. Mr. Adams was a veteran of World War I. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mahala Webb Adams, and is survived by three daughters, Elsie Conley of Springfield, OH, Ocie Wilder of Greenville, NC and Pauline VanHoose of Dayton, five sons, Romie of East Point, James Lee of North Carolina, Raleigh of Springfield, Harry of Dayton and John D of Chicago; 19 grandchildren and two sisters, Pearlie Stacy of Hyden and Runie Burton of Narrows, VA. Funeral services for Mr. Adams were held Friday, September 6, in the Chapel of the Jones- Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville with Reverend Arthur Daniel officiating. Burial was in the Webb Cemetery at Hager Hill with arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, September 11, 1974
