The funeral for Lillie Aabrekke, 83, of Minnewaukan will be held Wed. at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan. Interment will be in Big Coulee Cemetery south of Churchs Ferry. She died March 4, 1995 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.
Rev. Lori Keyser-Boswell & Intern Paul Ritter will officiate. Pallbearers will be Craig Cudmore, Tracy Aabrekke, Dion Johnson, Mark Aabrekke, David Carlson & Dennis Olson. Deanna Hanson will be organist & Ethel & Harlan Helgeson will provide special music. The Nelson Funeral Home of Minnewaukan is in charge of arrangements.
Lillie Aabrekke was born April 15, 1911 on the family farm in Butte Valley Township of Benson County near Harlow to Elling & Liv Larson Swenson. She was baptized & confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church west of Harlow. She attended township school & the Harlow School. She married Carl Aabrekke Nov. 18, 1933 at Minnewaukan. They farmed in Eldon Township of Benson County before moving to Minnewaukan in 1941. He died in Aug. of 1971. She continued living in Minnewaukan until Aug. 25, 1989 when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.
She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church & its ladies aid & the Minnewaukan 55 Club.
Survivors include 2 sons, Elmer Aabrekke of Milnor & Ivan Aabrekke of Minnewaukan; 7 daughters, Katherine (Mrs. Lyder) Lundgren of Edmore, Lois (Mrs. Darrel) Johnson of Brinsmade, Shirley (Mrs. Dennis) Olson of Edinburg, Diane (Mrs. Rodger)Carlson of Park River, Linda (Mrs. Allen) Henning of Evansville, Ind., Sandra (Mrs. Thomas) Cudmore of Grafton & Connie (Mrs. Thomas) Langley of Park River; 28 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; 4 sisters, Sophie Swenson of Rugby, Jorgine Leholm of Tioga, Signe Ness of Devils Lake & Ella Diesen of Kalispell, Mont.; & 2 brothers, Lars Swenson of Devils Lake & Ingvold Swenson of Leeds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 infant daughters; a son, Carl Aabrekke Jr. in 1966; an infant grandson; an infant great-granddaughter; a brother, Swen Swenson; & a sister, Olga Munson.
