The third child and first daughter born to Fortunato and Ildefonza (née Sebastian), Mating (pronounced "Muh-tee-ng") was known to always have been prim and proper. She loved going to church, which is located just a few steps from the family home where she and her siblings grew up, and loved crocheting and weaving by the front porch until sundown. She and her only sister Citang both stayed single; and with no children, they stayed and lived together at the family home.
